About Bible By Example

Bible By Example is a podcast for people who want to engage with the Bible directly — without sermons, agendas, or insider jargon. Whether you’re a new Christian, a longtime churchgoer who’s never read the text for yourself, or a skeptic who wants to ensure your criticisms are leveled at the actual text rather than a caricature, this podcast gives you a clear, grounded way in.

Hosted by a Christian “fellow traveler” out of costal North Carolina rather than a theologian or pastor, the show walks through the Bible book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse — and we don’t skip the hard parts. Think of it like a peer-to-peer study where I share the linguistic quirks, historical context, and archaeological data from my prep work, while explicitly inviting you to check behind me.

How we do things differently:

  • We go from Genesis to Revelation, but we never spoil the ending. We only cross-reference what we have already covered together, allowing the historical narrative to unfold in real-time.
  • This will be grounded in the historic, orthodox creeds of the faith. As we go, we will map out the generally accepted “Overton Window” of different traditions where interpretations differ.
  • My background is in computer programming, not divinity school. The goal isn’t to tell you what to believe, but to look at how the text is put together and model how to read carefully, responsibly, and with curiosity.

The Roadmap: The journey begins with an introductory series covering how we got the text, why we consider it reliable, how translation families differ, and the baseline definitions we’ll be using. From there, we move straight into Genesis.
